Don’t worry, Grandma. I’m not giving up praying altogether. I’m just done praying as a substitute for doing.
In James 2:22, we see that neither faith nor action alone can fulfill God’s plan for our lives. Look at Abraham, for example, “You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.”
My hope and prayer for you this season is that your prayer life will be reinvigorated as your faith and actions begin to work together like never before.
Over the next few days, we’ll explore why I “gave up praying” for Lent in these challenging posts:
- Part 1: Stop praying for clarity.
- Part 2: Quit praying for safety.
- Part 3: Give up praying about stuff you won’t do.
- Part 4: Never say, “I’ll pray for you” again.
